Structural Osteopathy

Structural osteopathy Is the practise of treating musculoskeletal ailments with manual therapy using the hands.

Treatment consists of mobilisation and manipulation of the soft tissue of the body, as well as the joints where the soft tissue has an influence on the movement of these joints, which may be restricted.

The technique used by a structural osteopath will vary depending on the problem but will mainly consist of deep tissue massage, mobilisation of soft tissue and joints, manipulation of joints - which may produce an audible click, which is common for synovial joints and tendons when being moved through a range of motion.

The Osteopath will complete an examination and with a diagnosis the treatment focus on direct alignment and balancing of tension in the tissue to promote health and vitality of the body structures to promote the body’s innate ability to self regulate and heal.
